Tuesday nights are not usually as entertaining or as interesting as The Video Games BAFTA awards ceremony last week. LEGO® The Lord Of The Rings™ was nominated twice for both Best Family Game and Best British Game and the excellent LEGO® Batman 2 was also nominated for Best Family Game!
The event itself was full of industry veterans and creative types and was the first time I ever had the pleasure of wearing a tuxedo! It was held at The Hilton Park Lane and was an amazing venue for such a glitzy night.
The event began and very quickly our first category came up: “Best Family Game”. We were up against a very strong collection of contenders and I am very proud to say that LEGO® Batman 2 was announced as the winner! Everyone was ecstatic for the team who developed the project from start to finish and suddenly we were all on stage. I was lucky enough to accept the award on behalf of the team and lift the BAFTA aloft! Unfortunately LEGO® The Lord Of The Rings™ didn’t win a BAFTA this year but to be nominated for two separate awards was amazing and I thank everyone who voted for us :-)
Words can’t describe how proud I am to be a part of a studio that has won such an award and I can only thank the team who developed LEGO® Batman 2 for being so great as to get us there in the first place and win!
Here’s a nice group shot of the team who attended the event with the LEGO® Batman 2 BAFTA for Best Family Game.
